What to host a private or public Womb Surround?
There are many benefits to hosting a Womb Surround in your home or community. Reach out if you are interested in hosting a Womb Surround in your space.
Some Benefits to You for Hosting
Hosts receive a discount off of their registration fee. Usually, this is the equivalent of 10% for every day of the workshop. So, in a 3.5 day workshop, you would get 35% off. For a $1,050 early-bird rate, you would receive ~$350 ($367.50 actually) off the cost. A 700€ 3.5 day workshop would provide you a ~245€ discount.
Save even more money: if you were to travel to attend a Womb Surround, you would have additional expenses of airfare, hotel/airbnb, food, and car rental.
You are providing a service to your community, and you can share the benefits of this healing work with loved friends, colleagues, and family.
An additional financial discount is available for those that provide cooking/meal support for the facilitator(s). See details on this below.
Hosting has the following requirements
A large living room-style space with a couch and/or backjacks for floor access. Six people need to comfortably fit in the space with room to spare.
Providing a private space for the facilitator (Elan) to be able to sleep, eat, and reside at. Usually Elan needs to be able to arrive at least one day prior to and stay at least one day beyond the Womb Surround.
Participants in the Womb Surround need to be able to store some food in the fridge and kitchen and sometimes heat meals or eat their food during breaks.
Easy bathroom access from the workshop space.
Help with the physical setup and layout of the Womb Surround space before the workshop and tidying up a little bit each night (the participants will also help with this).
Help with promotion to local individuals and others that you know that may be interested in the Womb Surround. In other words, help with filling the workshop.
The space needs to be private so no other individuals are coming and going in the area of the space during the workshop (8:45 am into the evening). If housemates or partners are gone most of the day, have separate entrances, and are supportive of this work, this can usually work. Each day there will be at least a one hour and 45-minute window when we take a break, and housemates can come and go (but the timing of this window is unplanned).
Be available to answer logistical questions about the space and neighborhood from participants. Provide local restaurant, housing, and other advice for those coming from out of town.
Ideal Situations for a Womb Surround
You live alone in a 2+ bedroom home with a spacious living room and are happy to host Elan in one bedroom and the Womb Surround in the common space. You have a home with audible and physical distance from neighbors.
You are a healing practitioner and have a separate standalone space on your property where you see clients that is large enough to host a group of 6. Plus you have a sleeping space in your home or know of a nearby discounted Airbnb or sleeping situation for Elan.
Other important considerations for your home space:
There is no mold smell or known mold issue in your home. Elan is reactive and sensitive to mold.
You do not have a cell tower on your street or within .25 miles of your home. Elan is sensitive to high-levels of wireless radiation exposure.
You are not in a highly populated high-rise building. Single-family or town-homes preferred.
Additional Optional Support With Meals
One of the biggest challenges in traveling to new places and other countries is difficulty in finding good local (and organic) food for Elan’s diet. If you are willing to provide two previously home-cooked or freshly prepared meals a day for Elan, he will provide an additional $225 or 200€ discount off the registration fee. Elan’s diet is gluten, dairy, grain, and sugar-free. He does eat organic meat and needs at least one meal a day to include animal protein & fat. More details can be provided if you want to pursue this option.
Schedules & Other Workshops
A Womb Surround with four or five participants is usually 3.5 days. The space needs to be prepared and available the day before so we can start on the first day ready to go in the morning. The end time of each day is fluid (birth time), and we ask all participants not to make plans in the evening. We are usually complete on the last day between 12 pm to 4 pm. A Womb Surround with six participants is 4.5 days.
If you have connections to nearby movement spaces and a local somatic/dance community and want to also help organize a Continuum Movement workshop (daylong or two-days) on a weekend before or after the Womb Surround, you and one other will receive free attendance. Elan likes to offer both types of workshops when he travels.
